ASB 16

• ASB-16 is a zwitterionic detergent
• The detergent is a sulfobetaine with a C16 alkyl tail
• Very efficient for solubilizing proteins for 2D analysis
• Optimal solubility achieved in urea-thiourea mixturres and not in urea alone
• Exhibits better solubilization results than CHAPS
• ASB-16 has been shown to solubilize membrane proteins that were previously undetected
