Spacer arm 27.1 angstroms. Biotinylation reagent. Reacts specifically with thiol groups at pH 7.5-8.5 to form stable thiol-ether bond. Reagent is not water soluble so a small amount of DMSO or DMF should be added to the ligand containing buffer. Soluble in DMSO and DMF.

- Iodoacetyl LC hydrazide biotinylates antibodies or other proteins for use in protein methods
- It is membrane permeable and can be used to label inside cells (intracellular)
- Thiol reactive - Iodoacetyl LC biotin reacts with sulfhydryls (-SH), such as the side-chain of cysteine
- Iodoacetyl activated It can perform reactions in the dark at pH 7.5 to 8.5 in Tris or borate buffer
- Iodoacetyl biotin is irreversible and forms permanent thioether bonds; spacer arm cannot be cleaved
- Must be dissolved in DMSO or DMF before further dilution in aqueous buffers
- Medium length spacer arm (27.1 angstroms). Iodoacetyl LC biotin contains a hexylenediamine extension.
